Chiseldon Primary School in Swindon, Wilts is given an ICT facelift by local IT Support company enviz IT. ICT Launch afternoon is attended by parents, pupils, and teachers from other local schools as well as Local MP Anne Snelgrove.
A Wiltshire Primary school has recently been given a complete IT overhaul, thanks to a local company enviz IT.
Chiseldon Primary School called in enviz IT to implement a complete information technology facelift at the school and allow it to become more cost and performance efficient and introduce strategies to help it be more environmentally friendly.
The Liddington-based company was started four years ago by Jack Peploe when he was 18. The firm is also supporting the Chiseldon school.
The school held an open afternoon to launch its new IT infrastructure which was attended by parents, pupils and staff as well as other primary schools from the Swindon area.
Guests toured the school, visiting the classrooms where pupils were using new technology. The children put on a play for the guests that explained how the technology worked and how it benefited their school. The youngsters came up with the concept and wrote it themselves.
Local MP Anne Snelgrove was so impressed with the advances at the school that she hopes to take the children to present their play to Ed Balls, the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families.
Headteacher, John Dickens, has been impressed with the developments at the school and surprised at how little disruption the school has experienced while the work has been carried out. “We have been on an incredible journey with the help of our partners at enviz IT and we are looking forward to others seeing what the children and staff have been able to do as a result of this partnership,” he said. “We are not trying to be better than others, just the best that we can be ourselves.
“enviz IT have certainly gone above and beyond to make that happen for us”.
As a result of the improvements made to the IT at the school, the demand for use of the computer suite rocketed, so enviz created a second computer suite by recycling old systems so there were enough workstations for the whole school.
Another development is a 24/7 learning platform which uses remote items called access AppsPens, which were also handed out to guests at the launch. Pupils, teachers and parents can now access the school"s applications at home for things like homework.
“We have really exciting ideas of new ways of doing IT in schools and businesses alike,” said Mr Peploe, MD of
enviz IT.
“The great thing about working with Chiseldon Primary was that they also had a vision of what they wanted – we just made it happen for them and gave them the means to be that little bit more innovative with the technology.”
